6 Bean Blend: Why Six Origins Make One Perfect Cup
Most coffee blends are built around two or three origins. That's enough to create balance — a bright origin here, a full-bodied one there. But we wanted something more ambitious. Something that captures the full spectrum of what specialty coffee can be in a single, unified cup.
That's the idea behind our 6 Bean Blend.
What Is a Multi-Origin Blend?
A coffee blend combines beans from different origins, roast levels, or processing methods to create a flavor profile that no single origin could achieve on its own. The blender's job is to find origins that complement each other — where one's weakness is another's strength, and the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts.
Most commercial blends use two or three origins. Specialty blenders might use four. Six is rare — and for good reason. The more origins you add, the harder it becomes to maintain balance. Each bean has to earn its place, and the roasting has to be precise enough to bring out the best in all of them simultaneously.
When it works, the result is extraordinary: a cup with layers of flavor that reveal themselves as it cools, a complexity that keeps you coming back, and a consistency that makes it your go-to every single morning.
The Philosophy Behind the 6 Bean Blend
We built our 6 Bean Blend around a simple idea: every great coffee-growing region in the world has something unique to offer. Latin America brings sweetness and balance. Africa brings brightness and fruit. Asia brings body and depth. Indonesia brings earthiness and weight.
Why choose one when you can have all of them?
Each of the six origins in this blend was selected to contribute something specific:
- Brightness and acidity — from East African origins that lift the cup and add complexity
- Sweetness and balance — from Latin American origins that form the backbone of the blend
- Body and depth — from Asian and Indonesian origins that give the cup its weight and staying power
- Complexity and finish — from carefully selected lots that add the layers that make this blend worth drinking slowly
The result is a medium-dark roast that's bold without being harsh, complex without being confusing, and satisfying in a way that simpler blends rarely achieve.
What It Tastes Like
The 6 Bean Blend is designed to be a complete coffee experience in a single cup:
- Dark chocolate and caramel — rich, sweet, and deeply satisfying
- Subtle fruit complexity — a hint of dark berry that adds intrigue without dominating
- Full, rounded body — substantial and coating, with real presence on the palate
- Balanced acidity — enough brightness to keep it lively, never sharp or aggressive
- Long, clean finish — complex and lingering, with no bitterness
It's exceptional as a drip coffee, outstanding as a French press, and holds up beautifully with milk and cream. It also pulls a remarkable espresso — the complexity of six origins translates into a shot with real depth and a thick, persistent crema.
Who It's For
The 6 Bean Blend is for the coffee drinker who doesn't want to choose. If you've ever loved an Ethiopian for its brightness but wished it had more body, or loved a Sumatran for its depth but wished it had more sweetness — this blend was made for you.
It's also one of the best introductions to specialty coffee we offer. The complexity is there for those who want to explore it, but the balance makes it immediately approachable for anyone who just wants a great cup without thinking too hard about it.
